Daughter's Graduation Gift

Q: Hello, I am interested in purchasing a pearl necklace for my daughter's upcoming graduation from university. Do you sell to customers outside the USA? I am in Ontario, Canada. I bought an 18" fresh-water pearl necklace (graduated-sized pearls) for my older daughter two years ago, and now I would like to buy something similar for my younger daughter. It could be 16 or 18" long, and the pearls could be one size or graduated...the main thing being that the necklace will be beautiful, will suit a 23-year-old, and is classic in its styling. I would also request an attractive clasp that can be displayed at the front or side, should she wish to wear the pearls in that manner. What would you recommend and in what price range?

As for the classic strand of white pearls, there are numerous options for you depending on your budget. The classic white Akoya strands are available in both 16” and 18” lengths on the website. These are posted with standard clasps and choices of grade quality, overtone, and gold colour. Another good option if you are looking at high quality but within a smaller budget range, is the Freshadama grade freshwater pearls. I will include links below to both those listing pages.

The Akoya pearl strands are categorized by .5mm size graduation, Freshwater pearls are in a 1.0mm size range. To the naked eye these strands will all appear to be uniform in size but the size range allows some leeway in matching complete strands. The graduated strands fell out of favor in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s and have not really ever been popular since. Because the market for the graduated strands is so small, we just don’t offer them.
Our freshwater strands come in a standard 18” length but could be modified for your daughter. These are available in AA+, AAA, and Freshadama quality and include a standard clasp which differs depending on the size of the pearls. If you are looking for a clasp that is more decorative than merely functional, we do have a wide variety of clasps available. Once you can offer more details about the clasp and the pearl choice, I can send you photos of some clasp options and prices. We will need to know the gold colour, diamonds or no diamonds, size of pearls and type, etc. The budget is up to you, we can work within any budget you give us and make this a memorable graduation gift!
