Q: I'm looking for as surprise gift for engineer daughter, one pair from your selection of dangle white or gold South Sea pearl earrings. The question remains: how much variation is there in color, hue, tone, etc. from one set of earrings to another, in the same model –enough that I better plan on a visit to your showroom, or is the variation so slight that I could as well order a set sent by mail or UPS? Or does your Website price, "From $..." indicate a considerable variation in details of individual pearls, earring construction, etc., so that a good choice can best be made in your store? My wife is not involved in the selection of this gift. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
A: The earrings you are referring to (WSE-Classic or GSE-Classic) are priced based on size and quality, not necessarily on overtone. There is a great deal of variation in color for the Golden South Sea pearls but most of our inventory is similar to the pearls photographed on the site. Overtones can be gold, silver, rose, or even a slight green but the bodycolor for almost all of our earrings is in the medium gold range. White South Sea pearls are also found in a variety of overtones but these color differences are much more subtle. The white bodycolor is standard with overtones of silver, rose, or ivory. Because the price is based on the size of the pearls, you can indicate to us your preference of overtones and we will do our best to select pearls that most closely match your wishes.
We do not have a retail outlet but do offer appointment times in our offices Monday through Friday, starting at 10am up to 3pm – one appointment per day. Our calendar is usually booked up to two weeks in advance so your daughter would need to plan ahead. If you have a good idea of the preferences your daughter has, I am confident that we could select a pair of earrings for her that she would like. I’m expecting new South Sea pearls in the next day or so (both white and golden) so if you do decide to place an order in the next few days, we will have many pearls to select from and are more likely to have pearls in overtones your daughter would like.
