Q: I am a studio jeweler and as such buy pearls w/o clasp and temporarily strung. I'm interested in both the black freshwater pearls in your offer and the white "freshadama" w/earrings. GiA cert will show that the pearls are undyed and have nacre thickness indicated? If so, I'd like to order a sample strand of each. I'd prefer not to order on line, but by phone. I have very good JBT rating.
A: The Freshadama strands are available on the temporary strings and the earring pearls unset if you prefer. The Appraisal that comes with each item is not a GIA Certification, it is simply a replacement value appraisal. All black freshwater pearls are colour treated as freshwater pearls do not naturally occur in black. The white, pink, and lavender freshadama pearls, however, are not color treated. The certificate does not indicate nacre thickness either. This is not considered a value factor when dealing with freshwater pearls, as freshwater pearls are tissue nucleated, not bead nucleated. This means that they are solid nacre, so the depth is 100%. You can give us a call in the office to place your order if you prefer, we are available during regular business hours.
