Q: I have a necklace with a 9mm akoya pearl in it. I was wondering if you would be able to change the pearl to a freshadama one, and what the costs might be. This is a picture of the necklace:

It is the upper right necklace from this link, with a single pearl in the center of the gold wire.
A: I took a look at the link and the necklace in the top right-hand picture has a series of diamonds placed on what appears to be a cable or wire necklace. If you have this piece with a pearl in the centre and want it changed out, we would need to see the piece in person to determine the assembly technique used on the original, and what work would be necessary to switch the pearl. I am sorry that I can’t offer you a definitive answer at this time. But without the piece here, we have no way of knowing if it would be possible to even change the pearl. If you do not feel comfortable sending the item to our offices, you may want to explore some local jewelers or a goldsmiths to see what they say first.
