Q: I went to Mikimoto the other day and saw a beautiful white south sea strand for $9,800, small pearls, 8 to 8.9mm. I was looking for a little bigger 8-10, and they said I would have to put a deposit to have it made and it would be anywhere from $16,000-18,000. It was pretty because the pearls weren't so grey, they were warmer "creamier". So I was wondering if you could look at the White South Sea Strand on the website WSS30-xxx. It is described as AAA 8.5-10 mm with silver/rose overtones for $6000.00 Are there really rose overtones?? What is the luster like, etc.
A: The strand you are asking about does has silver and rose overtones, so it has that kind of "pop" n the luster that the silver strands tend to have. If you are looking for a creamier overtone like you saw at Mikimoto, this strand will not be a match. Let me know if you like the size and quality of that strand and I can go on a search for a more ivory or ivory/cream strand for you (it would actually cost less than a rose strand). If we do not have the exact piece in inventory, I would be happy to match loose pearls for you to create the perfect strand - no desposit required!
